Students are expected to have an interest in Environmental, and/or Veterinary Science. Students should be planning to continue these interests in college and pursue a similar career. Students attending the Magnet Program should have a desire to work with plants and/or animals independently and or within a group setting. Students in the Canoga Park Environmental and Veterinary Science Magnet will be encouraged to enroll in courses that meet the University of California ”A-G” requirements, but programs will be adjusted to meet the needs of each individual student. All Magnet students will be enrolled in an Environmental and/or Veterinary Science related class each semester. Students may be expected to attend summer school in order to complete graduation requirements that cannot to be completed during the regular school year.
All students will comply with Los Angeles Unified School District graduation requirements including passing the California High School Exit Exam and fulfilling the Service Learning requirement through the magnet led and designed Service Learning Project.
The National FFA Organization (a national recognized student organization that promotes student leadership and public speaking skills) is an integral part of the Magnet School and all students are encouraged to participate. In most Magnet core classes, students are required to earn 70 FFA points through fundraising and attending regularly scheduled activities.
