INTRODUCING MS. DEPACKH!!!
We would like to introduce one of our History teachers, Ms. DePackh!!! Ms. Depackh has been teaching at Canoga for over 30 years, and teaches all our AP classes for Social Studies!
Where did Ms. DePackh grow up?
Ms. DePackh grew up in Canoga Park, CA
What high school did she attend?
She is an alumnus of Canoga Park High!
What activities was Ms. DePackh involved in when she was in high school?
Ms. DePackh was not involved in any activities, however, she was working in hospitals. In fact, when she was in 10th grade, her first job was in a hospital!
How does she like working at Canoga?
Considering she’s worked here 30 years, she loves it!
What advice does Ms. DePackh have for the students here at Canoga?
“If at first you don’t succeed, try again!”
“Don’t be too quick to label yourself, and don’t let others label you. Who you are now is just the tip of the iceberg!”
Has she ever taught at another school?
She student taught at Sutter middle school for one semester. She also did one semester of student teaching here at Canoga, where she was immediately hired from student teaching!
What other jobs has Ms. DePackh had?
Surgical aid through college (EKG’s, etc. She likes medicine, and wishes she could do more with it if she wasn’t so bad at math).
She also worked on a cruise ship called the Island Princess in a boutique (she was able to travel around the world).
She also ran a college student volunteer program/internship placement at Northridge hospital.
What does she do in her spare time?
Ms. DePackh grades papers. But, when she was younger, she did things such as hiking/backpacking and snow skiing.
What kind of music does Ms. DePackh like?
She likes all kinds, but she loves Classic Rock N’ Roll
What is something we might not know about her?
She’s adventurous and brave. Ms. DePackh even did a 30-day trip from the Western Slopes of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado to Utah. She also had the opportunity to study in Indonesia learning about their economic and Political system.
Where did Ms. DePackh go to college?
She graduated from UC Santa Barbara.
What was her major?
Ms. Depackh majored in Cultural Anthropology.
Why did Ms. DePackh decide to become a teacher?
She thought she could make a difference.
Why did she choose the subjects she teaches?
She chose Human Behavior/Social Science because it broadens peoples’ perspectives of the world.
Are there any clubs or activities Ms. DePackh would like to sponsor at Canoga?
No, she doesn’t have time. But, if she did have time, she would sponsor a backpacking/camping/hiking club.
