INTRODUCING MS. KUMAR!!
We would like to introduce one of our Science teachers, Ms. Kumar!!! Ms. Kumar has been teaching at Canoga for almost 8 years, and is the sponsor of the Desi Club!
Where did Ms. Kumar grow up?
Ms. Kumar grew up in a small town called Shimla, the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh in India.
What school did Mrs. Kumar attend?
She attended Loreto Convent, an all- girl’s Catholic school and it was also a private school.
What activities was Ms. Kumar involved in when she was in high school?
She was in Debate, Drama, and Dance. She also volunteered outside of school helping kids with school work.
How does she like working at Canoga?
She loves it and she wouldn’t stop teaching here if it were for the world.
What advice does Ms. Kumar have for students here at Canoga?
“People at Canoga care for you, so when you grow up you can be whatever you want to be.” She also says, “The purpose of life is a life of purpose! So make your life purposeful and meaningful for yourself and others.”
Has she ever taught at another school?
Mrs. Kumar taught at San Fernando High School, as well.
What other jobs has Ms. Kumar had?
She worked at Jack in the Box taking orders. She also worked at a Bank for three years, and during that time 17 robberies occurred! Ms. Kumar has also worked at an accounting business, and as a house wife.
What does she do in her spare time?
Ms. Kumar loves to spend time with her sons, reading, and volunteering.
What kind of music does Ms. Kumar like?
She likes to listen to Bollywood music.
What is something we might not know about Ms. Kumar that she would want us to know?
She is a very shy person, aww! She also runs a program called Roots at her temple where she talks to kids that come from places besides America.
Where did she go to college?
She went to a private all girls’ college in Shimla.
What was Ms. Kumar’s major in college?
Ms. Kumar has a Master in Zoology and Business Marketing.
Why did Ms. Kumar choose the subject she teaches?
Because she has a degree in it and out of all the types of sciences, Biology catches her thoughts.
What is the Desi Club at Canoga that Ms. Kumar sponsors?
The Desi Club is a multicultural organization, which attempts to bring together students from different ethnicities. They share holidays, feasts and ideas! The word desi means, "from my country."
