What's RIGHT about Canoga
![]() HUNTER HISTORIAN HONORED
Richard Tibbetts was awarded the California Council of Historical Societies Preservation Award. His outstanding work was recognized statewide and we are proud and applaud his efforts. 6/29/09 Canoga's own history teacher, Mr. Tibbetts, is an alumnus, a history teacher, and the founder of the Canoga Park High School Museum and Alumni Redwood Grove Project. In the past five years, Mr. Tibbetts has been responsible for the restoration of the school's Depression Era murals, the resurfacing of the Goldstar Graduate Memorial Wall, the founding of the museum, and the preservation of the historic redwood grove. His efforts have caused a resurgence of interest and support for Canoga Park High School's history, grounds, buildings, and alumni community. The award was created to recognize outstanding accomplishments of individuals in the restoration and/or preservation of historic landmarks, monuments, documents, or other memorabilia. Mr. Tibbetts has exceeded the requirements in all areas. His tireless efforts have truly transformed our campus. Mr. Tibbetts was nominated by members of the Canoga-Owensmouth Historical Society (COHS), and they were on hand this weekend in Martinez, California to see him receive the award. |
