Mr. Clem Ruh

I remember Mr. Clem Ruh. My Dad bought several cars over the years from the Clem Ruh Chevrolet dealership on Sherman Way. What I particularly remember about Mr. Clem Ruh was that he sponsored a series of Industrial Arts Awards at John A Sutter JHS in the early 60's. There were awards to outstanding students in Metal Shop, Wood Shop, Print Shop, Electric Shop, & Drafting, one of which was given to a close friend of mine. I remember attending the awards ceremony with my Dad one year during which Mr. Clem Ruh was present. He was a wealthy guy, wore an expensive suit and carried himself very well. Since everyone at the time owned either a Ford, Chevy, or Plymouth, those who owned a Chevy likely bought it from Mr. Clem Ruh. Mr Clem Ruh impressed me greatly because though he was a big shot in the community, he gave time & money to helping kids. To me and my pals, that was huge.
